Privacy Policy

Christ Embassy New Zealand Last updated: 4 September 2026

Christ Embassy New Zealand (“CENZ”, “we”, “us”) is part of LoveWorld New Zealand. This policy explains what personal information we collect through our websites, why we collect it, who sees it, and what you can do about it.

It covers:

  • christembassy.nz — our main website
  • visit.christembassy.nz — our I’m New Here form
  • online.christembassy.nz — our online campus

We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 2020.

The short version

  • You can read anything on our site without telling us who you are.
  • We only collect what you type into a form. We don’t buy lists and we don’t track you across other websites.
  • Prayer requests are read by our pastoral team and go no further. They are never used to add you to a mailing list.
  • We’ll never sell your information. Ever.
  • You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to fix it, or ask us to delete it — and we’ll act on it.

The rest of this page is the detail behind those five sentences.

What we collect, and why

When you fill in I’m New Here

So we can welcome you properly and know to expect you, we ask for:

What Why
Your name So we can greet you by it
The city you’re in So we point you to the right Christ Embassy location
How you’d like us to get in touch — WhatsApp, Telegram, email, at church, or not at all So we contact you the way you actually want, or leave you alone if that’s what you chose
Your phone number or email, depending on that choice So we can do it
Where you are on your journey — new believer, believer, still exploring So the person who follows up has some context and doesn’t ask you to repeat yourself

“Please don’t follow up” is a real option and we honour it. Choose it and no one will contact you.

We also record which link brought you to the form, so we know whether our invitations are reaching people.

When you ask for prayer

What Why
Your name Required — we pray for people, not case numbers
Your prayer request Required — it’s the point
Your email Optional. Only so we can confirm we received it
Your city Optional, and only if you tell us — see below
A category and urgency, if you pick them So urgent requests get seen first

We do not work out where you are from your internet connection. We could, and we decided not to: mobile connections in New Zealand often report the phone company’s location rather than yours, so a guess would be worse than simply asking. We do not record your IP address with your prayer request.

There is a tick-box asking whether we may contact you about your request. It starts unticked, and leaving it unticked is a real answer — we take it to mean “pray for me, but don’t call”. Giving us your email so we can confirm we got your request is not the same as inviting a phone call, and we don’t treat it as one.

When you use the contact form

Your name, your email address, and your message. Your email is required here because a message with no way to reply isn’t much use to either of us.

Prayer requests — who actually reads them

This deserves its own section, because you’re trusting people you’ve never met.

Prayer requests go to the pastors currently on our prayer team — three people at the time of writing — and to nobody else. They arrive by private message and email, and they are stored in our own database on our own server.

They are not used for anything else. A prayer request does not add you to a mailing list, does not create a “visitor” record, does not make you a contact to follow up, and is never passed to anyone outside that team. If you later become part of our church family, that’s a separate conversation with a person — not something that happens automatically because you once asked for prayer.

If your request mentions someone else — and many do, because people ask for prayer for their family — please only share what that person would be comfortable with you sharing. We treat information about third parties in prayer requests with the same care as your own, we don’t act on it, and we don’t contact people named in a request.

Our online campus

online.christembassy.nz runs on Church Online Platform, a free service provided by Life.Church (part of YouVersion), with our services streamed through Vimeo.

If you use the live chat or ask for prayer during a service there, that information is handled on Life.Church’s platform under their privacy policy, not ours, and is stored on their systems overseas. Our chat hosts and prayer volunteers can see what you post in chat and what you send through the prayer button.

You can watch a service without signing in, chatting, or giving us anything at all.

Cookies and analytics

This site uses Google Analytics to understand how the website is serving visitors.

  • We use Google Analytics to understand which pages people find useful, how many people tap “Get Directions”, and whether our invitations are working. It’s about the pattern, not the person — we don’t use it to identify individual visitors.
  • For visitors in New Zealand and other regions where prior consent is not required, analytics runs without interrupting the visit. You can turn it off through Cookie settings in the footer.
  • For visitors in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland, optional analytics stays off until it is allowed. A concise preferences bar appears; declining does not affect the site.
  • Advertising storage, ad personalisation, and advertising user-data signals remain disabled.
  • You can change your mind whenever you like — there’s a link in the footer.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile runs on our forms to keep out automated spam. It is a security measure rather than an analytics one, and it doesn’t track you across other sites.
  • WordPress may set a small number of cookies needed to make the site work — for example to remember your cookie choice.

The site uses Cloudflare’s country indication only to select the appropriate analytics-consent experience. It is not added to church contact, prayer, or visitor records.

Who else sees your information, and where it lives

We don’t sell your personal information. We don’t share it with advertisers. We never will.

To run these websites we rely on a small number of service providers, and some of them are based outside New Zealand. This means some of your information is stored or processed overseas:

Who What for Where
DigitalOcean Our server and database — where form submissions are stored Singapore
Cloudflare Website delivery, spam protection on forms United States and worldwide
Resend Sending confirmation and notification emails United States
Proton Receiving email to our hello@ address Switzerland
Telegram Alerting our team that a form has come in International
Google Analytics, once enabled and once you’ve agreed United States
Life.Church / YouVersion, Vimeo Our online campus and video streaming United States

We choose providers we believe protect information to a standard comparable with New Zealand’s, as the Privacy Act requires when information goes overseas. By using our forms, you understand your information may be handled in these countries.

We may also share information where the law requires it, or where there is a serious and immediate risk to someone’s safety.

How long we keep it

  • Prayer requests: kept for 12 months, then deleted.
  • Contact messages: kept for 24 months, then deleted.
  • I’m New Here submissions: kept while you’re connected with us. If you ask us not to follow up, or we don’t hear from you for 24 months, we delete the record.

You can ask us to delete your information sooner and we will, unless we have a legal reason to keep it.

How we keep it safe

  • Everything travels over an encrypted connection (HTTPS).
  • Form data is stored in our own database on our own server, not in a shared spreadsheet or a third-party marketing tool.
  • Access is limited to the people who need it — the pastoral and administration team.
  • Our forms are protected against automated abuse.

No system is perfectly secure, and we won’t pretend otherwise. If a breach happens that could cause you serious harm, we will tell you and notify the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, as the Privacy Act requires.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can:

  • Ask what we hold about you. We’ll tell you, normally within 20 working days.
  • Ask us to correct it if it’s wrong.
  • Ask us to delete it.
  • Withdraw your consent to analytics at any time.
  • Complain, if you think we’ve got it wrong.

To do any of these, contact our privacy officer:

Queen Esther Email: [email protected] Post: 546 Mount Albert Road, Three Kings, Auckland, New Zealand

If you’re not happy with how we respond, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner:

Children and young people

Our services and events include children and young people, and we welcome them. We don’t knowingly collect personal information online from anyone under 16 without a parent or guardian involved. If you believe a child has submitted information through our website, contact us and we’ll remove it.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information, we’ll update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant, we’ll say so clearly rather than quietly editing the text.
